House Report

As reported earlier in the year, House Captains have been working on House  Logos which will appear on banners and posters around the school in 2010.  The theme here was ‘A  Bird’ appearing within a shield in house colours.  This follows ‘The Falcon’ which is  our School’s Logo.

On Monday 19th October students and staff voted on these House Logos. After many months of hard work from House Captains and Mr Cioni (Art Teacher) we decided to select two options per house which the whole school would vote for. These Logos were placed around the school and displayed on the Plasma TVs for one whole week. The results of that whole school vote are as follows:

Therefore the Logos that were successful were:

1)                Munro Phoenix

2)                Halton Eagles

3)                Oakwood Owls

4)                Gladstone Gliders

A special thanks goes to Mr Cioni who has been tremendous in helping us reach the quality of work that has been produced. His guidance in this project has been invaluable.  Small changes will be made to improve the Logos and then talks with the printers will proceed.

Also, the Futsal Competition has finally finished with the ‘Year 12 Boys’ beating the Middle School champions ’Arsenal’ in a penalty shoot-out. It was a great effort all round and I would especially like to thank all Senior Students who helped referee the tournament. As this was also a House Competition the winner of the tournament was Gladstone. The ‘Year 12 Boys’ also earnt the privilege of playing against a highly credentialed staff team. At the end of full- time this game also finished tied up so a penalty shoot-out decided the game. The Staff team won 3-0 against a team who went in as favourites.

Finally I would like to also thank Ms Ferguson who looked after ‘The Debating Team’ for 2009. As this was also a House Competition, students who participated were also rewarded with House Points. Gladstone once again took it out quite convincingly.

As the year comes to an end, students are reminded to stay tuned to announcements that may affect your House.  A reminder that Shields and the House Cup will be presented at Presentation Night.
